In today’s world, we witness a long awaited awakening in the field of human resources. The world has come to know that Man is the center of growth and development. Having focused on resources and technology for a long time, development and business leaders have shifted their concentration to human resources. New phrases such as “human capital” have come into existence confirming that human resources have become an asset for successful companies and operations. We, in the Arabian Society for Human Resources Management (ASHRM), know more than anyone else about the human role and how important it is to develop it. At the same time, we know the problems faced by those responsible for human resources development and company leaders when they enter into this area. Our response to their increasing requirements will be based on several directions. Through our close association with international societies that work in the field of human resources management, we shall be keen to act as a window for the latest world developments and strong advocates of change and development. Our focus on increasing the use of Arabic and overcoming the language barrier will contribute to the transfer of this knowledge to as many people in the Arab world as possible. Another basic direction of our activity will be our focus on the practical aspects of human resources management. Despite our great respect for academic and theoretical aspects, we are also aware of the importance of experience to those who have achieved remarkable success in the area of human resources management. In ASHRM, we want to provide practical solutions to those who aspire to have a better method of management of human resources through training, policies and services. We want to provide all leaders with a method to evaluate their manpower and know what keep them motivated. We want this method to show such leaders when and why they are losing their experienced human resources, and then; provide them with several options to overcome such situations. We want these leaders to believe our studies and analysis that the training, compensation and services provided to human resources will achieve highest returns. We want to assure them that the method of management of manpower will achieve their objectives and that every activity is planned to accomplish these objectives. Undoubtedly, these are ambitious and demanding objectives. However, our unlimited confidence in the abilities of the people who work in the field of development of human resources in our region and in the hard work done by members of the Society and their successes assure us that the Society will be able to overcome all challenges and proceed with the good work of developing and managing our region’s human resources; encouraged by the help and assistance received by the Society from pioneers in the field of achievement of the goals of human resources development such as Saudi Aramco. Finally, allow me to assure you that realizing ASHRM’s objectives is an august and noble goal as known to all those who have worked in this field and found satisfaction, enjoyment and self-fulfillment while acquiring new skills that will allow them to grow and develop at the personal and professional levels. We hope that more members will be interested in human resources and join our Society in order to contribute to its activities and help it achieve more success and distinction.
