TOPIC: Core Competencies: Supporting Business Success through the Application of HRD in Talent Pool
Core competencies have been a factor in the business world for over 15 years. The popularity of attempts applying core competencies has resulted in becoming almost a cliché. In this presentation, Prof. MacLean explores the original intent of core competencies and describes how they have been misapplied in recent years. Examples and models of core competencies will be shared, along with an analysis of how they are useful and also misused in their application.
SPEAKER: Prof. Gary N. McLean
Prof. Gary Mclean is one of the world’s leading Business and Industry educators, author of many books, including the top selling “Practicing Organization Development: A Guide for Consultants”.
Prof. Mclean is a Professor of Business and Industry Education at the University of Minnesota . He is also the Coordinator of Human Resource Development and Adult Education since 1980; Morse Alumni distinguished Teaching Professor of Work, Community, and family Education.
He is the recipient of many distinguished teaching awards including The Robert E. Slaughter for outstanding research in business education.
